Union Bible Theological Seminary

Accreditation

Union Bible Theological Seminary has elected not to pursue an accredited status with any agency affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). UBTS is not pursuing such recognition for two main reasons. First, we wish to continue having local ministers teach Bible classes and raise up new Christian leaders as the great commission commands (Matt. 28:19). Second, we want to keep the cost of tuition affordable so that more students have the opportunity to study at UBTS and remain free from school debt. Accreditation by a recognized agency would mean that we would have to abandon these priorities. Instead, we have chosen to remain unaccredited and seek to demonstrate the credibility of  UBTS through compliance with generally accepted accreditation standards, articulation agreements with accredited colleges, and especially through the spiritually fruitful lives of the students who have attended. We are inspired by Paul’s words to the Corinthians, “Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men.” (2 Corinthians 3:1-2)
